History: Our Community Coronado wasn’t always called Coronado. When the founder of Coronado saw it 17 miles off the coast of San Diego he called it Las Yslas Coronado. From 1602- 1916 it was Called Las Yslas Coronado, but in 1917 is was change to North Island and was added a Naval Air Station. At the year 2000 North Island became known as Coronado.
Over the years Coronado has develop buildings that created tourist attractions. Hotel Del is one of the places people come to Coronado. It was also a place where people used to lived in and still live today. The hotel has over 600 rooms. A beach behind the Hotel Del,and restaurants inside. Also has the Babcock & Story Bar. It was open on February 18, 1888 by Elisha Spurr Babcock and Hampton Lovegrove Story. They were the owners until 1889 when John Diedrich Spreckels. In 1900 John had created Coronado Tent City south of Hotel Del. 39 years of hundreds of tents/cottages only to be shut down to built a new highway.
People from Spain were the first settlers on Coronado Island but known to them as Las Yslas Coronados. They came from Spain to California then to Coronado Island. In 1821 Mexico had gained their independence. This was to turn to a treaty for dividing sections California to Spain and Mexico. Governor Pio Pico had a land grant that gave Pedro Carrillo the Ownership of the Coronado After owning the Coronado for five months he sold it to an American named Bezer Simmons. Over the next 39 years it has changed over hands of the ownership of Coronado Island. Until the last five that own Coronado were Elisha S. Babcock, Jr., Hampton L. Story, Jacob Gruendike, and John D. Spreckels until the government had control of Coronado. After John D. Spreckels sold the island to the government it became North Island and came with a Naval Air Station. (Cliff, 5:00-6:00).
Also Elisha Spurr Babcock and his 2 brother and laws became investor to this company call Coronado Beach Company, started on April 7, 1886.
After John D. Spreckels sold the island to the government it became North Island and came with a Naval Air Station. (Cliff, 5:00-6:00).
People would visit Coronado to go the beach to swim or go with there dog to the beach. They hunted jackrabbits on North Island only if you or a guest at the Hotel Del. Fishing on the shores of all three beaches, Dog Beach, Coronado Beach, Ferry Landing. Fishing at all the bays of Coronado Island, Glorietta Bay and North Bay.
Change Over Time: Coronado has changed dramatically over the last three generations. In the last three generations the property value increased from half the price of a apartment in Barrio Logan to 2.2 million on the average home.
But many things stayed true. For example, The Hotel Del Coronado,The Coronado Bridge, and the Ferry have been in the community for about a hundred years and are still here today but things like Tent City
are not there anymore.
The community has a lot of famous people to. For example, the author of “The Wizard Of OZ”, L.Frank Baum, wrote the classic novel in Coronado and the house he did it in is now available to visit. There are other famous people in Coronado like Kate Morgan, the alleged ghost at Hotel Del Coronado where in some tourist picture you can see her.
The building and the layout of the town has changed dramatically over the period of time.Three generations ago there were just shacks instead of normal buildings, but now its mansions. There transportation has also changed too, the ordinary transportation three generations ago was horseback and now high class cars.
Coronado Today: Coronado is also known as "Crown City". The population was 23,511 by the year, 2013. Coronado is more like resort city. Coronado has attracts people from around the world. Coronado has many tourist attractions such as Hotel Del. The beaches itself brings a lot of people to Coronado. Mostly what brings people to Coronado would be the flower show events every April. You can also see the up coming events such as the firework show, or Sunday concerts in the park, it's held on Memorial Day until Labor Day. A good place to spend some time is at the pier, the beach, and at the park. What people mostly spend their time doing at Coronado is swimming, fishing, sailing, surfing, bike riding, lawn bowling, running, walking, rollerblading, playing tennis, and golf.
People that have a major role in coronado are Cliff M, Dr. Charles Kendall Jr, and the mayor of coronado Casey Tanaka. What makes Coronado are the businesses like Clayton’s coffee shop, Primavera Ristorante, Chez Loma, Crown Bistro, Village Pizzeria. Houses that are there today are more of a new look. What Coronado is mostly known for today is its beaches, its households, and the coronado bridge.
Conclusion: At Coronado you will never be bored. You will always have something to do because it is an active community. There’s fishing, swimming, lawn bowling, bike riding, and so many other activities for the kids, and the whole family, and for dates with that special someone. But even though it is an vacation paradise it has a historical background that is very interesting. Our group had a fun time researching our community and we meet some very nice people like Mr.Cliff Maurer and Dr.Charles Kendall Jr. We would like to thank all the people that we interviewed especially Javon who we interviewed last minute.

Project
Play Writing Project
Great Dionysus project we were able to choose our. Description of overall project group members, I chose the two other members because I knew they would be good at what I wasn't. After establishing our groups, the class read Antigone, watched plays, read plays written by former students. Next the assignment was to create an outline for a play we would write out first story wasn't very good, it was about "Game of Thrones" -it was all about how to get power, but it wasn't interesting. Instead, we wrote a play based on the Vietnam war, but added our own twist. Once the play was written, our play was chosen by the class, it was edited. The revision process with the class was difficult because as a group we watched movies as research for our play. Platoon, good morning Vietnam, and apocalypse now were same at the movies we watched. So, when the class had different perspective, it was hard to accept, since we had invested so much research. Our play was one of the final six plays chosen to be produced. The groups whose play not chose were adsorbed into the six groups. We got two more people, they helped write the chorus. Myself and anther member in my group helped created the storyboard, in addition our group needed to complete the backdrop gather costumes and choose actors. The final part of the project was to perform in front of the school and our parents.
In today's society most veterans aren't taken seriously, ofter are over looked and/or under appreciated. Our play explores that social sue through the theme war and choose change people.
Our play was set in quang tri province, Vietnam 1968. Two brothers are sent to Vietnam. One brother 'Paul' isn't fitting in well with his commrades. While he was busy trying to be popular, his brother Sam gets killed in combat. At the new of Sam death the soldier has a break down realizing how young his. Brother was and unfairly he had treated him.
I had several roles during this project. Beside writing the original script, I was in charge of the story board, backdrop and finally costuming and set design.

Love Hurts

Love Hurts
It can hurt to love someone,
but something more painful
can be loving someone and
not finding the courage to let
her know how you feel.
Love hurts you when you take
always the love, the feeling, the passion
in a relationship, but to still find
out if you care for that person
love can hurt when you meet
someone who means a lot to you,
only to find out at that the end,
it was never going to be,
so you'll just have to let it go
But when that door of happiness
closes, another door opens.
But, love can hurt so much
often times we look too long
at the closed door that we don't see
the one that has been opened
Never say goodbye if you still would
like to try, never give up if you still
feel you can’t move on, never say you don't
love her anymore if you can't let go

Without You
I love you, not because for what you have
but because of what I feel for you,
I care for you not because you need to be taken care of-
but because I want too. I will alway be here for you,
you have been the sunshine of my life.…
Thank you for brightening up my world,
You have became my passion, my life, my love,
without you I don't know what would I do,
Not even all of the stars in the universe could never replace you,
I have not forgotten about you because every time I close my eyes you're still there
I love you, not because for what you have
but because of what I feel for you,
I care for you not because you need to be taken care of-
